In order to be enable effectively water losses control, water supply system in Ulcinj should be divided into the DMAs soon. According to this proposal, water supply system should be divided into 11 DMAs. In each of DMA will be established permanently Flow and pressure measurement. Zoning proposal has made in accordance with the planned reconstruction (project which will include construction and pipelines replacement  in Water Supply system in Ulcinj will launch soon).

In the DMA 8, which is the largest and according to preliminary indicators zone with the highest amount of losses, will be performed comprehensive water loss reduction actions. This zone cover area from the source Gac, up to the roundabout in the old town. Special attention will be paid to reducing the apparent (Commercial) losses, and considering that it is a zone which cover part of the urban as well the rural part of the municipality, action will last 7 months. After the completion of the action in DMA 8, the action will be continued in the others DMA.

During the action in this area will be carried out training for utility's staff. Trainig will comprise following topics: Leak detection equipment use, GIS, hydraulic modeling and training for water balance calculation using CalcuLEAKator software.

Within the project VIK Ulcinj will obtain full complete of leak detection equipment and GIS and Integrated software package during January 2015.

The project "Consulting Services for Institutional Support of Water Supply and Wastewater Utility Ulcinj, Montenegro, is carried out under the program: Water Supply and Sanitation at the Adriatic Coast , Phase 5 and funded by the German Bank for Reconstruction and Development KfW through employer Vodacom doo Tivat

The project is implementing by the German consulting company Sachsen Wasser GmbH from Leipzig.
